The Sons and Daughters of Liberty

                        Sons of Liberty

 Sons of Liberty

In Boston, 1765 Samuel Adams helped create a group called the Sons of Liberty. The Sons of Liberty were any men who were not in favor of the new taxes and laws. There motto was "No taxation without representation." They would set up anonymous meetings at public places. These groups were established in almost every Colony. There initial was to hold there rights as an English man. The groups were mostly made up of printer/publishers. They would burn houses that belonged to royal officials, and effigies. Altogether the Sons of Liberty were just a group of men who did not like all the new taxes.

                           Daughters of Liberty

The Daughters of Liberty was started in Boston by a woman named Abigail Adams. The Daughters of Liberty was for women that also protested against the taxes. The Daughters of Liberty was established sometime around 1766. The women wore there own clothes, and produced there own goods rather than buy from the British. The women were known for making the colony's less dependent on British textiles. This group of women, after the war, gave women a new sense of freedom. Since before women were like slaves to their husbands. "With women on our side, we can make every Tory tremble." Samuel Adams.
