Hamilton vs. Jefferson

The letters were written on September 9th 1792. I think there going to be about the government or Constitution. They were writing to Washington to explain the situation to him. Since their was a big conflict on how each of them wanted to run the Legislative branch. I think what was happening is that there were people telling George that Jefferson and Hamilton were talking behind eachothers backs. There is no doubt that they were since in Jeffersons letter it says " I will not let my retirement be ruined by the lies of a man who history—if history stoops to notice him—will remember a person who worked to destroy liberty." I think Jefferson is angrier because he must have said more. I know this because it sounds like Jefferson is "sucking up" to Washington. At the end of the letter he talks about how he is Washington's most humble servant and he was calling him "Sir." I think Hamilton started the fight. I think he pushed Jeffersons buttons until he said something mean to him, then went and told everyone how bad of a person Jefferson was. Based on what they wrote, I would trust Hamilton more. Jefferson seems kinda two faced! Almost like he would talk about someone then when they would confront him about it he would deny everything.

Shay's Rebellion

Springfield Times

"The Rebellion"

By Hannah Doyle

March 1st 1787

Did you hear about Danielle Shay's Rebellion? How could you not? It was here in Town just last month on the 27th. Danielle Shay led over 1,000 farmers to Springfields to our arsenal,to get guns and ammunition. The only reason they wamted guns and ammo was because they couldn't sell their goods. So then they couldn't pay the taxes that the state wanted. Then the state officials had to take the farmers land and send some of them to jail. The farmers then grew a hatrid for the government. So back at the arsenal our state Militia met them, we shot over their heads to scare them off but they kept going. So we were forced to shoot again. As a result 4 were found dead. Now my opinion as an American is that our goernment can't control further violence if they can't hold back some farmers.
"A little rebellion, now and then, is a good thing"               Thomas Jefferson.

The Sons and Daughters of Liberty

                        Sons of Liberty

 Sons of Liberty

In Boston, 1765 Samuel Adams helped create a group called the Sons of Liberty. The Sons of Liberty were any men who were not in favor of the new taxes and laws. There motto was "No taxation without representation." They would set up anonymous meetings at public places. These groups were established in almost every Colony. There initial was to hold there rights as an English man. The groups were mostly made up of printer/publishers. They would burn houses that belonged to royal officials, and effigies. Altogether the Sons of Liberty were just a group of men who did not like all the new taxes.

                           Daughters of Liberty

The Daughters of Liberty was started in Boston by a woman named Abigail Adams. The Daughters of Liberty was for women that also protested against the taxes. The Daughters of Liberty was established sometime around 1766. The women wore there own clothes, and produced there own goods rather than buy from the British. The women were known for making the colony's less dependent on British textiles. This group of women, after the war, gave women a new sense of freedom. Since before women were like slaves to their husbands. "With women on our side, we can make every Tory tremble." Samuel Adams.
